AI Engineer

Role: AI Engineer – Generative AI, AI Agents & RAG

The Role

We are looking for an AI Engineers to design, build and productionise Generative AI and AI Agents capabilities for our customers.

You will work across LLMs, RAG, AI agents, vector search, prompt engineering, machine learning, APIs and cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Generative AI & LLM

• Design and implement LLM-powered applications.

• Work with OpenAI and/or other leading foundation models.

• Develop structured prompting and prompt templates.

• Implement structured JSON outputs and tool/function calling.

• Select appropriate models for different workloads.

• Optimise AI quality, latency and cost.

AI Agents

• Design and implement AI agents capable of using business tools.

• Build agentic workflows for recruitment and talent matching.

• Implement tool calling and controlled actions.

• Develop human-in-the-loop workflows.

• Implement guardrails around AI-generated decisions and actions.

• Maintain agent instructions, tools and evaluation frameworks.

RAG & Vector Search

• Design Retrieval-Augmented Generation solutions.

• Implement embeddings and semantic search.

• Work with vector databases such as PostgreSQL/pgvector, Azure AI Search, Pinecone or similar.

• Develop document ingestion and retrieval pipelines.

• Improve retrieval quality and relevance.

Backend Engineering

• Develop APIs using Python/FastAPI or similar frameworks.

• Build integrations between AI services and enterprise applications.

• Develop scalable asynchronous processing pipelines.

• Implement secure AI tool execution.

• Design reusable AI services and components.

Azure / Cloud

• Deploy AI applications on Microsoft Azure.

• Work with Azure Container Apps or equivalent container platforms.

• Use Azure Blob Storage for documents.

• Use Azure Service Bus for asynchronous processing.

• Work with Azure Database for PostgreSQL.

• Use Azure Key Vault for secrets.

• Implement monitoring using Azure Monitor/Application Insights.

• Work with CI/CD pipelines.

AI Evaluation & Responsible AI

• Develop automated evaluation datasets for AI applications.

• Measure retrieval and matching quality.

• Monitor hallucinations and incorrect AI outputs.

• Implement prompt and model versioning.

• Ensure AI outputs are explainable and traceable.

• Design appropriate human-approval workflows.

• Ensure recruitment AI does not use protected or irrelevant personal characteristics in candidate evaluation.

Required Skills

Must Have

• Strong Python development experience.

• Hands-on experience with Generative AI / LLM applications.

• Experience with OpenAI API or equivalent LLM APIs.

• Experience building RAG applications.

• Understanding of embeddings and vector search.

• Experience with prompt engineering.

• Experience with REST APIs.

• Strong SQL and database knowledge.

• Experience with Git and CI/CD.

• Understanding of cloud architecture, preferably Azure.

AI / ML

Strong understanding of:

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence or a related discipline.

• 4+ years of software engineering / data / AI experience.

• Demonstrated experience delivering AI solutions into production.
